With less than 1,400 of these magnificant antelopes surviving in South Africa , Shakawa is dedictated to the preservation and expansion of the breed.

Guests have the rare opportunity to visit the dedicated breeding area and see the sheer elegance and beauty of our Roan population at close quarters. (It's worthy to note that well before Shakawa was established, a site was selected that was most conducive to successful Roan breeding; e.g. proper foliage for feeding and an adequate water supply.)
